By February 5, 2018: Department/Program selects candidate(s), requests student essay

By February 19: Student submits essay to DUS. The essay should provide an overview of the student’s intellectual interests, focusing in particular on major research projects that they have either competed, are currently in progress, or plan to undertake in the immediate future, and should include their future plans. 

March 7: DUS or Chair or their designee submits the completed nomination with cover sheet to:

On or around late March: Semi-finalists are contacted

Early April: Faculty Scholars Committee interviews semi-finalists

April 19: Academic Council receives the announcement of the winners during their regular monthly meeting
